As Implementation Consultants, our job is to translate the client’s needs into technical solutions–which is a lot of fun for those up to the challenge! This means we work in two realms simultaneously. The first involves understanding the client’s overall goals, as well as their day-to-day business practices. We carefully gather this information through presentations, design sessions, and live demonstrations. Then we use all the business knowledge we gather about the client’s business practices and get down to the problem-solving. Integrity, flexibility, and good communication skills are key to becoming a well-rounded Implementation Consultant. Helping our clients transition from out-of-date and inflexible systems, to a robust, dynamic FAST system is an amazing experience. – Michael, FASTie since 2013

The Administrative Assistant role is one of the most multifaceted positions at FAST. We work closely with Project Managers to keep FAST sites running smoothly and efficiently. Onboarding, reconciling finances, managing calendars, and drafting documents and processing reports are often daily tasks for this job. Whether we are finding a place to live for a new hire, helping state executives produce a webinar for 300 employees, planning a rollout party for the entire site and significant others, booking hotel rooms for the Training team’s travel schedule, or stocking enough food and snacks for an overnight conversion, no two days are ever the same. Being organized is a given, and being social is a must. Administrative Assistants have the opportunity to set the tone for each site through event planning, providing food, and finding time for breaks and games. If you are independent and self-motivated and you thrive on little direction and lots of freedom, helping your peers succeed by becoming an Admin at FAST will be a rewarding choice for you. – Gus, FASTie since 2016

This is a fast-paced role in which we are often on the go and traveling to college campuses. We work hard to develop relationships and add personal touches to the recruitment process. This process begins in our initial contact with a campus and continues in attending and organizing events, conducting interviews, and performing further follow-up. We are creative in our approaches and welcome new suggestions on how to best share information about FAST and the opportunities that the company offers. Recruiters are involved in initial meetings with candidates and follow those candidates through to the final steps of onboarding. – Lindsey, FASTie since 2005

Technical Writers work hard to make sure FASTies and clients have the documentation and training materials they need. We create a core set of user documentation, including help system content and e-learning courses that are used on all FAST projects. We write and edit everything from technical guides to newsletters, and we also get to develop and organize training for new employees. We are constantly learning by exploring software on our own and working with others. Then we use our logical thinking skills balanced with a good dose of creativity to interpret, distill, and deliver that information in ways that will best meet the needs of a variety of audiences. We enjoy hearing how our work helps others do their jobs better and are always looking for new ideas and approaches. The range of our work allows us to contribute to and be involved in many different aspects of FAST. – Theresa, FASTie since 2005
Technical Team members work to support functional development teams while ensuring all tiers of the application are running efficiently and securely. By proactively monitoring Production and Development environments, we address performance issues using database tuning techniques and work with developers to refactor their code. Using a variety of tool sets, we troubleshoot issues both internal and external to the application in order to improve processes. We provide consultation to other project team members regarding the application architecture. We are ultimately responsible for the integration and maintenance of the product on all tiers, including automation of tasks and implementation of new product features. We are problem-solvers who are constantly learning and while we face a variety of challenges, we also get to enjoy a wide range of successes. – Lucas, FASTie since 2011
The Training Coordinator position is a truly dynamic role. We collaborate with all project members, both FAST and client, at a number of levels. In a typical day, we meet with clients and colleagues, work with business team members to better understand the system, and coordinate training for all agency staff before the new FAST system goes live. We also get the opportunity to use our skills and talents to guide our clients through the process of testing their new system. It is immensely rewarding to drive the efforts that transition users from their legacy system to their new FAST system and to see the looks of accomplishment on their faces when all the pieces finally fall into place for them. The relationships we build with both FAST colleagues and client counterparts last long after we move on to a new project. – Katie, FASTie since 2011
